1. As you likely saw on this post, M had her very first hair cut today. We had be preparing for awhile and she did wonderfully well. Janna warns that subsequent ones may be more tricky, but I was relieved to get through the first with a cooperative, mostly still girl.
2. Tomorrow feels like the start of the swirl for me. I am literally having a hard time figuring out when I'm going to make it to the grocery story and I really do have to go to the grocery store! (On a related note, B feels we are in a grocery store crisis as we are out of Grape Jam, Fruit Snacks, and Fruity Mints... because those are clearly the important foods the week of Christmas).
3. B is out of school and enjoying way more video game time than usual. He stays home with me and tends to get to play a lot while I am working before lunch and what we'll call "rest time." He is thrilled, but I'm worried how it will go when we reinstill video game boundaries more firmly when school resumes...Fun. I do really like having B with me again, even with the extra gaming. Very comforting and an old familiar place for us, even though he used to be napping not playing Kirby.
4. M has been going to the babysitter for the last two days and is SO excited that in a last minute change of plans she and B get to go hang out with Granddaddy while I work tomorrow. She really thinks she needs to be where brother is, but there is no way I'd get any work done at all if she were here as she just is not old enough or enough of a napper for that, sadly.
5. I get to see my lovely friend Mary and her husband Andy this week, along with several of our more local friends. I am incredibly excited about it. I will need to somewhere along the way fit in house cleaning though..hmmm... So far, I've vacuumed, which won't last, and washed everyone's sheets, which I can't imagine any of them caring about. May need to focus a bit more.
6. The kids are now, thanks to some gentle suggestions from Brent, convinced that we NEED to make cookies for Santa. I have been deferring til later in the week as we want them to be fresh, right? But considering how busy later in the week may get perhaps I should make them soon. Any recipes to recommend? I'm always glad for new ideas. In the meantime, M also tells me everyday that on Saturday we need to put out the reindeer food she made for the deer while in Ms. Jenny's class. Heaven help us if we forget. She is very excited and energized about it so I'm counting on her to remind us.
7. I am SO wanting to eat at Victoria's in Norman. It is slightly odd as I've eaten there very few times and never really craved it, but for weeks now it has sounded so good. I believe I've convinced Brent and the Palfreymans to join me..... sometime in January. Sigh.
8. We are on day two of our ritual nightly present wrapping. As noted previously, I'm not into wrapping presents and ours are not remotely fancy with not a single bow in sight thus far. However, it really does make the living room look more festive and increase the feeling that Christmas is nigh!
9. I want to get/make/find a Christmas present for my Grandpa Dotter, but it is fairly difficult as he has everything and wants few things. I usually find some interesting food for him, but so far, it isn't appearing. It needs to be soft and delicious. Let me know if you have any recommendations on short time lines.
10. Can you believe it? My son turns five one month from today. This is sort of blowing our minds. Five is so many big things like, you know, Kindergarten! B is still a mix of big and little-- mostly big, but really still four and so amazing. Trying to process, plan and be ready to really celebrate in January!
