OLW Blog Hop - April

Welcome to the OLW April Blog Hop!

This month, Ali's prompt asked us to take one little action with our word.  More specifically, to chose something to do, schedule it and write why we did it and what happened.  My "plan" at the beginning of the month was to complete 30 consecutive days of exercise by March 20th (I started this goal in February).  This was to focus on improving and savoring my health.  However, just 17 days into this plan I injured my knee to a point where I had to stop exercising for a couple weeks. I was disappointed, but knew that pushing on would just injure my leg further and that I can start again soon when my leg is better.

I did find several opportunities to focus on my word/goals throughout the month so I still feel quite satisfied with the outcome.

  • I seized the opportunity to meet my cousin Rachael at the bookstore even though it was only for 45 minutes, with two kids in tow, on very short notice. She lives far away and it was great to spend a little time with her and catch up on our respective stories. I savored just getting to be with here for the time we had and am so glad I seized the moment.
  • I tried out several new local restaurants to "savor" the local cuisine - these included: Kaiser's, Big Truck Taco, Chicas, and Alfredo's.  There are a strangely large number of Mexican food restaurants on that list considering that I'm not much in to Mexican food, but my friends are and I'm glad I went.  I think Kaiser's was my favorite thought -- the best burger and shakes I've had in ages.
  • I attended my first professional basketball game - March 29th's OKC Thunder v. Cal State Golden Warriors.  The home team (Thunder) won by 1 point in the overtime -- it was a great game and a great OKC experience.  Even though I am originally from Oklahoma I still feel like I have much to learn about my new community and all it has to offer.  The Thunder are a new team, but much loved and I'm glad I get to count myself among their fan base now!
  • I planted the first phase of our vegetable garden for the next year. This is doubly beneficial as it creates quality time with my kids and healthy foods on our plates -- much to savor here!
  • We took time off to visit Brent's sister and her family in Texas as they welcomed their new baby.  It was great to savor time with family and to meet our new nephew!
Overall, it was a wonderful month even if it did not go as planned.  I am fascinated to see what April brings!

The winner of the Rubbons prize pack from February is: Stacey (TheAcornGarden.com)  whose prize is heading her way!  This month's prize will be a random selection of stickers and ribbon-- include a color preference in your comment and you'll be entered to win!

Oh, so sorry to hear that your knee derailed your plans temporarily. That happens to me often, my foot was feeling better but started hurting after my belly dancing class. The physical therapist was going to discharge me too. Oh well. But you did a lot otherwise, which is truly inspiring, and aspiring!!! xoxo

Wow! You had a busy month! Hope your knee is better soon. When I was treating for my knees, I continued with workouts focused on upper body strength training. It might be an option.
