Mama's Helper: Cookie Edition
On Friday, we helped Will surprise his wife Kela for her 30th Birthday party. (Happy Birthday Kela!) To prepare, B helped me make some cookies for the birthday girl (and a few for us too). It had been a rough day as B was refusing his nap so I put him to work. We made a double batch of Cranberry Butter cookies from my Instant Gratification: No Hassle Desserts in Just about No Time book and Oatmeal cherry cookies from the Joy of Cooking. Both were tasty if quite different. The first quite delicate and the later hearty.
B was a great, if very messy, helper. I did all the measuring he did the pouring in the bowl. We both worked on stiring and tasting. B did a little patting of the mounds of dough too and was definitely a bit help in testing the final product. Thought you all might like these pictures of our cooking fun. I look forward to much more kitchen exploration with my little helper in training!

Looks like fun. Where did you get the wild paisley background? I love it.
I JUST loaded that. From the same place as usual, just thought I'd try a new look for late autumn/winter.
What a great little helper! I can't wait until K is old enough to actually contribute (rather than destroy) whatever it is I'm making in the kitchen. I hope you don't mind - I added a link to your blog on my "family and friends" links. I love to read your blog and thought I'd eliminate the additional step of going through Jamie's. Thanks so much for your kind words on my "Momma's Girl" post, it's been really tough and it's just nice to know I'm not alone! Maybe someday we can actually meet! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Summer, I love reading your blog too and am delighted to be added to your blogroll. I'll add you to mine shortly as I love hearing all about K and hope to meet her and you someday. Thanks for the sweet comments:) Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
