Time to Organize

Today, I went through every item of clothes I own. I sorted, organized, stored, and purged. Six weeks post-partum might not be THE ideal time for this, but it had to be done. I'm so pleased with the results. Midway through I began to think I have way too many clothes, but had to accept that pregnancy and weight loss require several sizes and I've learned better than to get rid of the prior size knowing I'll be this way again with at least one more pregnancy to come. Also, a bit sad to see all my fun pretty work clothes, but not nearly sad enough to make we want to be back in an office just now. Finally, spent some time pondering how my most expensive clothes are often only worn once (lots of fancy dresses heading to the cedar chest today).

This week we've realized that the two most cluttered rooms in our house are the office and our bedroom. These are rooms where we spend a lot of time (granted the time in our bedroom is just sleeping, but would be good if was less messy). The great clothes sorting extravaganza was a start. We also bought some new office furniture to start on the process in there an. We can't just accept that after one year our house is too small, although it may be a bit cozy for us. So, we're working on better ways to organize and make things comfortable, functional, and maybe even asthetically pleasing. Granted, this is going to take awhile given the limited time and resources we have currently, but today was a good first step. I'm sure Audra could do this quickly and easily so we'll be seeking her advice. Meanwhile, we're not yet organizing pros so will be awhile coming in this next step of making our house home for all four of us.

Abbey,
I have complete faith in your organization skills. I have taught you well and you have done wonderful stuff with your new house, but I am always just a phone call away with organizational ideas. Wish I was there to help.
Love you!
