Maggie at 10 Months!

I am amazed how much each happens each month and feel like this month definitely warranted an update.
(NOTE: all photos are by Kristi of Twice Blessed Photography)

In health: M spent much of the month on a maintenance does of antibiotics only to STILL have an ear infection.  However, by the time we visited the ENT last week it was cleared up so no tubes for now and he will re-check her in September.  She also passed her first ophthalmologist visit with flying colors. She appears to be gaining a bit of weight for the first time since January as at one visit she was around 25lbs.  This week (technically in her 11th month) she was sick again with some little virus that appears to be clearing up.  She was so very very snuggly and I admit I savored getting to just hold her for a few days as she is so busy now that I rarely get to just sit with her anymore.

On the move: She continues to crawl both traditionally and her funny bear crawl up on feet and hands only.  She does the later whenever she is not on carpet with a particular aversion for her knees touching the grass.  She cruises quickly around the coffee table and can transition between things.  She can stand unassisted briefly and took that one token step awhile back.  As she turned to start the 11th month she suddenly was much more willing to be walked around so perhaps is taking an interest in walking.

Food: M still loves cantaloupe, peaches and pizza.  She mostly eats bits of table food now and is particularly fond of deli ham and cheese for some reason.  She is using her sippy cup more and until her recent illness seemed to be drinking from her bottle less.  She is still quite messy, but as she is oddly off yogurt just now is getting a few less messy foods.

Babble:  This was language explosion part 1 time for M. There are so many new sounds and snippets.  Some include: Dada, Mama, Bubba, Baba.  We occasionally think we hear random things like pillow, bye, cantaloupe, yeah, etc.  She really latched on to some baby signs in the last week of the month.  It is amazing how helpful to have just the "all done" sign in her repertoire.  She signs hungry innovative, it seems. I will be singing it and she will take my fingers and put them in her mouth and then off we go. She still rubs her eye when sleep, which is a consistently clear sign too.  We also get Hi/Bye, and lots of clapping when she is pleased with herself.

Hair continues to be an issue.  In good news, it is getting long enough that much of it stays out of the way some of the time, but still trying to put it back and try various clips.  When sick, she would have none of it so we slacked for the weekend, but will begin again. I do love how lovely golden blond it is:)

Sleeping - sleeping rocks these days.  She consistently sleeps through the night (save one night when she was sick).  She is "usually" on a routine double nap schedule with each often stretching to two hours. If she misses her morning nap the afternoon nap has, at times, made it past 3 hours so I hold out hope that she'll be a good napper yet:)

Clothes - we love summer clothes and she got a new romper and dresses from Baby Gap this week (love them).  I notice last month I said we'd get new shoes, but that hasn't really happened.  We got a pair from Ms. Courtney, but they are already nearly too small which is sad as they are so adorable.

Sibling stories - I love that they play together now.  It is little random things, but they do entertain each other without me at times and seem to delight in playing together.  I love this so much. B takes good care of her and she thinks he is awesome.

Favorites -  This month she has loved her adventures to the pool (whether big at the Y or kiddie at her grandparents' houses).  She continues to like teething on dinosaurs and rocking out to her tunes. (You can watch a video of the later here).   She enjoys maracas and playing with the Leapfrog Learning Baby Tad. Lady M loves to explore everything, pull things out of drawers and cabinets, be in the center of the action and chatter away.

It was a busy wonderful month and I just love all the new language and sweet smiles.  Here's to my summer baby and the excitement to come!
