B @ 3

A few stats and memories of three:

Medical Report
Weight: 40.6lbs
Height 39.75 inches

Had is blood pressure taken for the first time at this Doctor's visit.  We also discovered that his ear tubes have come out already. I have mixed feelings about it, but there it is.  Oddly, most of the rest of his appointment was a discussion of fire safety, but whatever.  He's in great health and we're going to go meet some firemen soon.

Favorite Activities

This week, B's favorite thing to do is "play spaceships." These are actually Lego space ships so we spend A LOT of time rebuilding the ships.  He is also enjoying a lot of Toy Story related play. I think the new Toy Story movie coming out this year will be his first in the theater movie experience. Still LOVES Robots. He still loves dinosaurs, vehicles, books, trains, balloons, movies, wii games, and anything involving Daddy.  Each day also features book time. Book time sometimes happens more than once and includes anywhere from 2 -14ish books.  It is just warming up and we're venturing back outside to play with his new hockey stick set.  Also, he's a big fan of snacktime, but who isn't?

Rituals
We have a pretty specific ritual in the last cycle of things before bed.  The routine starts more generally with bath time with Daddy, PJ's, and some playing.  Then, on to book time.  Somewhere in there is teeth brushing, flossing and potty time.  When the time has arrived it goes like this: find blanket and put it in bed, turn on the moon, find whomever is his current sleeping buddy, turn off all lights and ceiling fan, turn on the hall light, close all the doors and finally crawl in bed for kisses before we leave with I love yous.  The naptime ritual is similar if a bit less robust.

Schedule
Every day starts with breakfast with Daddy and ends with family dinner, playtime and the above ritual so the differences are largely in the middle.  Weekends vary wildly so I'm going to skip them for now.

Mon/Wed - We play and get into our daytime clothes before MDO.  Then, MDO from 9:30 to 2:30 (with pick up/drop offs for M).  Then, it is time for a snack with Mom at the bar.  By 3pm it is time for a nap until Daddy gets home.

T/R - We play all morning and are free to do whatever.  We usually have Tuesday mornings free unless there is a Doctor appointment or something similar.  Thursdays often have more activities such as play dates with Nate, class at the zoo, gym time, or other outings.  We drop off M at noon and come home to have lunch together, play a little and head in to naps.  I wake him up around 4:40 to get ready to pick M up.

Fridays - Fridays are very flexible.  No one has child care so I fit in work in and around nap times of both kids.  Sometimes, we have visitors like Aunt Audra or other family.  If we don't have other plans we try to do gym time and at least once a month have lunch with Daddy at OSSM.

Developments this year (that I most remember...)

-Huge Language leaps.  He can say and understand anything.  This can be dangerous.  It is pretty wonderful though to be able to have conversations with him.
- Potty Training (not at night) - I feel like we did this twice, but I'm delighted in any case.
- Can dress himself
- Greatly expand memory length
- Jumps, swings bats/clubs, throws and catches balls, etc...
 - identifies everyone's gender
 - Asks lots of What, Where, Why, When, How questions
 - Knows, shapes, colors, and can count probably to 20ish - Recognizes all these wherever he goes
 - Sings lots of songs - particularly, Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, Jesus Leaves Me, Baby Shark, and many MANY made of songs among others
  - Much more open and friendly with people than he was.
  - Can do puzzles up to 24 pieces
  - Follows directions and helps us with tasks
  - Does chores - puts away his clothes (and Maggie's), helps me do the dishes, cleans up messes he makes, puts away toys etc and in a miracle turn of events rarely ever complains (yes I know this is a time limited situation)
 - Became a big brother - loves his "Magpie" and is such a big helper.  He is so sweet with her...

I'm sure there is more I'll want to recall, but suspect I'm losing/have lost my audience.  Happy Birthday sweet boy and may the year to come be full of magic and happiness.

I love this post! Happy (slightly belated) birthday, big guy! I'm amazed to see how much he does, especially in the area of communication, which is one we struggle with around here. He sounds like such a joy. Much love to you all!
