Birthday Week: Bright with Joy

For some reason in imagining a baby girl I think of soft colors, delicacy, quiet, etc... We even picked out the name we though we would call her in that similar vein. Our baby lady isn't really those things, but is truly wonderful in her unique, radiant way.

Perhaps it was being a big baby (she was 9lb 15oz at birth) or just her beautiful self shining through, but she has never seemed delicate.  Maggie is a champion snuggler, but also a truly vibrant personality.  While she can tell her own dramatic sad stories when upset, she is mostly radiant with smiles, dimples and cuteness.  Her personality just feels so fill of happiness, sweetness and joy.  She is a bit of a flirt and already working her trio of dimples to great effect.

It is amazing to see how truly happy she is most of the time.  Even when we're frustrated with her it is hard to remain that way when she looks up wreathed in smiles.  She even makes herself happy and loves to applaud her achievements as well as those of others.  There is lots of clapping in our days. I dream that she will always be so happy, but know it probably won't come so.  Meanwhile, I am so thankful for the joy she brings to our daily life.

She share her joy with everyone.  She is much more happy and welcoming to strangers than B was at this age.  She will crawl up to anyone that also has a small child to check on them. (Loved the airport situation). She is glad to be held by whomever she meets (but does prefer a parent somewhere around just in case).   She is always very interested in what her friends, brother and cousins are up to and will often follow them around. I'm quite sure she will be even more in the thick of it when she can talk and walk. Maggie already very much wants to be where the action is and at the center of a party, which has caused many missed naps (unfortunately, but I think we're clear on where she gets this).

The personality crosses all the way to her color scheme.  Somehow, despite wanting to buy her these gentle, soft pastels I've learned that she is really more a bright pink girl.  It is both her personality and what seems to flatter her coloring.  Consequently, her first birthday party will be filled with bright hughes to match that bright, radiant personality. Today, Aunt Audra and I even found a cute little outfit to match!

Love you baby lady and thank you for all the smiles you give us each day!
