The theme for M's 3rd Birthday was "A Very Cherry Birthday Party." As I noted previously, the party was held at Unpluggits - a play/craft space here in Edmond. Due to the location, we didn't have much control over decoration so the theme was in the treats, food, and M's clothes. One of the favors was a jelly bean cherry. Some of the basics are easily transferable to other favors or treats for various holidays so I wanted to share our process here:
Supplies:
Floral wire or other thin gauge wire
Wire snips or scissors that can cut through the wires
Washi tape
Small bags
Spoon/ladle
Jelly Beans
Directions:
Cut wire strips into 4-6 inch pieces. Layer wire between two two pieces of washi tape. The tape should extend beyond the end of the wires to keep the sharp ends covered. We cut ours on an angle to make them look more like "leaves" on the cherry.
Ladle two scoops of very cherry jelly beans into the bag and smoosh into a rounded shape. Finally, twist the washi tie around the top to form "leaves". Very easy and delicious. This could be done with pumpkins for Halloween or other treats at Christmas or maybe a flower for Easter. The candy could be switched out for M&Ms or other small treats as well.
Best of all they were delicious, fun, and easy to make with our kids and share with our friends.
We also had these adorable cherry lollipops tied to the outside of the bag with red and white bakers twine and in the bags as part of the treats -- so cute!
We hope you enjoy these ideas too!
