Ten Today

So, a couple days late on this, but it has been a crazy week as Board week usually is.

1.  Tonight, I attended the Washington Metro Area Corporate Counsel Association Awards dinner and MY office won the "Outstanding Law Department Award."  We are so honored, excited and proud of this acknowledgment.  I loved getting to share it with 8 of  colleagues that also attended.  I have truly, amazing colleagues that are both brilliant attorneys and wonderful friends. I feel so privileged that I get to continue to work with them.  We do, in  my humble opinion, make a great team.

2.  The weird thing about Board week is that I can't tell you much of anything about it.  I can tell you that it is a tremendous group effort and that I love the challenge.

3.  I can also tell you I've had filet two days in a row at different events and am quite sure this is something a person could get used to.  I love good beef.  Apparently, always a ranch girl.

4.  Better still, I got to have dinner with six of my dear girl friends over the course of the first two days.  They are so wonderful and getting to spend a little time pondering life, marriage, kids, religion, politics, food, careers and more with them makes me so happy. Thank you ladies!

5.  I also went on the longest cab ride of my life.  Total tab: $64.95--- good thing that one is on GW, right?  Did I mention the Board meeting is taking place way WAY out in Virginia on our Virginia Science and Technology Campus? No, well, it is and that is a bit of a complicating factor for me and others.

6. My friend Lori brought me a present to dinner the other night.  She had been reading on the blog that I wasn't ready to scrapbook about my Dad.  She thoughtfully got me a memory box instead to store memorbilia, momentos, photos, etc... in a beautiful space so I can collect the memories until I'm ready to create with them. So sweet and thoughtful-- thanks again Lori!

7. The iPad is VERY popular with the Trustees and administrators here.  I'm surprised at the percentage that have and use them.  Oddly, I find them less intrusive than either Blackberries or Laptops (both of which are also prevalent).  Still loving having mine around.  It makes me happy.

8. Booked my trip to STL for Zane's surgery.  I'm not going for quite as long as everyone else due in part to crazily booking via priceline for the first time in probably five years and immediately regretting that decision.  (Must listen to my sister's "I book by time and not by price" song more).  In any case, I am glad I will be there fore them.

9.  I'm not loving the wearing suits adventure as we enter the fourth day tomorrow.  Things feel a little more snug and think that perhaps filet every day is not helping with that so I suppose the weight loss train begins again when I return.

10.  Tired, so tired.  The first two nights here I was up quite late drafting and then am getting up an hour or sometimes even close to two hours earlier than usual here.  Perhaps I should just sleep, but really want to do my Thankful Thursday post too so that is coming up shortly.

Hope you all have a great week!
