Day 18: Preparing & Packages

I love the picture of the packages in the hall as there was one very similar to it last year. (For thost that are new here, Amazon.com is pivotal in our Christmas shopping process). I have to admit that these are not, in fact, all of the boxes, but a good portion of them complete with the very first presents I wrapped this year and one curious girl. We put two presents under the tree as a test to see if they would survive and while they are closely examined the wrappings are, so far, intact.

Other Saturday fun included M helping me make waffles while we listened to the Glee Christmas album followed by laundry,December Daily assembly, naps and packing for a visit to the farm. The kids had much to explore upon our arrival at Grandma's. M managed to pull over with a great crash my Mom's bird tree (Christmas tree decorated with birds) within moments of arrival. In good news, not much was broken and she was much more cautious after this. She did get to try out her first nightgown and explore all the decorations with her brother.

Meanwhile, the adults were preparing not just for Christmas, but for the very last minute, impromptu Christmas Tea that was to take place the next day. A little baking, a little musing, a lot of attempting to Maggie-proof the house as she is now very much into climbing and taking ornaments off the tree if left unsupervised. A fun day and it feels like Christmas is very nearly here.
