Ok, so I never did the five month post, perhaps I still will, but we're going to forge ahead with the six month anyway. Here is our 5th month picture to get us started. He is adorable, but you knew that, right?
Also, these two are palls. She held him a lot this month and helped him sit up and, of course, tried to pick him up.... she definitely "can" just not safe. She loves sitting next to his jumper and chatting or helping him play. Also, needs to hug and give her brother pats as often as possible.
The weather was wacky, cool, then very warm, and now almost cold. Here is E experimenting with the next size larger jackets. He looks so different with a hood on, and seems to like it!
He put on the striped overalls for his afternoon playdate with Grammie. I hear a good time was had by all. (Or maybe not by that hippo on the far rigth that gest chewed on A LOT).
First time sitting up by himself - Dec. 4th. He actually probably did it a few times before this, but only briefly. He seemed very pleased with himself when he could sit for this long, and very pleased with his first Christmas tree.
No spectacular picture of all three this month so this post-Candy Cane hunt version will have to do. He did seem to like his candy cane though...
More fun with big brother who also adores playing with him in his jumper. Big thanks to Fairy Godmother Chrissie for lending it to us! It is a HUGE hit!
He is in the middle of the swirl of Christmas preparations and taking it all in stride. He looks everything over very carefully. Next year, I suspect he'll be pulling at decorations constantly, but this year, observing.
More smiles with Daddy. B had his first ear infection and bout of croup over Thanksgiving as well as continuing to deal with scalp flakiness and reflux issues. Generally, he remained pretty happy throughout. The sniffles continue, but he is generally not too bothered by it all. He did not like taking all of his prescriptions, but hopefully is wellish now. He had gotten back to sleeping through the night for a few days before he got sick the most recent time and has yet to refind that magical power. He is getting closer again, but usually up at least once a night or early morning (5:30).
We will have official stats on Monday, but at his last Dr. Apt. for his ears he was slightly over 20 pounds. He has gone from very skinny to quite adorably round. His baby sitter now calls him her sumo baby. He eats a wide variety of things. I think apple sauce and carrots are probably his favorite. He does seem to really prefer things that are pureed to textured or at all chunky as he still gags on things like actual pieces of rice or a small bit of avocado that didn't get smashed. As with the all our kids, we are making our own baby food and still enjoying it. At his babysitter's house though he gets the normal store stuff and seems fine with both.
Oh, and his favorite toy these days, those soft, wonderful toes. He really wishes we'd quit putting socks on him as he really wants to chew or play with them.
We still put him in a sling fairly often and will probably do so more when he is too big to be in his infant seat and we will want other ways to carry him into the store. Here, we're snuggling at his first parade in Edmond on Dec. 8th.
He also got his first tooth on Nov. 29th. He isn't too excited about it. He is quite drooly and chewing on anything he can find. This, unfortunately, still tends to include our fingers, which is quite painful. So far, only one bottom tooth has made an appearance.
Here, we usually close with this month's picture with Blue Bear. This month, however, Ms. Heather took those as part of his photo shoot so we'll add those in a bit later with all of the cuteness of his photo shoot. We did some in Christmas settings and some in more ordinary clothes. I suspect they will be quite fun.
Thanks again little E for a wonderful month of snuggles, and big changes. This year has flown by. I was so amazed that it had already been half a year since you joined us and yet it seems like you've been here much longer too, if that makes any sense. You are growing bigger and developing new tricks so quickly now. Yesterday, you got up on all fours and started rocking. I was strangely sad as it marks the end of immobility way more than rolling does. It also means the transition to toddler is coming soon. I've loved having this time with you and think, to my great surprise, I will miss this phase in our families life as it begins to fade away as you grow into the next one.
Most importantly, know that we love you so much dear little one and can't wait to share the joys of Christmas with you very soon.
